Uzbekistan Airways relies on Chinese leasing companies for supply of six new A321neos

As part of its fleet modernization and expansion strategy, and effort to become Central Asia’s leading carrier, Uzbekistan Airways, has signed letters of intent with Chinese companies ICBC Aviation Leasing and CALC for the leasing of two and four new Airbus A321neo aircraft, respectively.

The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2027–2028. Their entry into service will allow Uzbekistan Airways to increase its A321neo fleet to 15 by 2028.

This is the first time the Uzbek flag carrier and ICBC Aviation Leasing (a division of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China) to collaborate.

An agreement with CALC (China Aircraft Leasing Company) represents continuation of the partnership, which started in 2023, with the delivery of an A320neo to the airline and continued this summer with the signing of an agreement for the delivery of two A321neos slated for 2026.

“This transaction further strengthens CALC’s footprint in Central Asia, a market of growing importance within our global portfolio,” said Winnie Liu, President and CCO of CALC.

The aircraft will feature a two-class configuration, Airbus’ Airspace Premium cabin, an in-flight entertainment system, and in-flight internet access.
